To anyone in the path of Hurricane Florence, or anyone of the other tropical storms or hurricane currently powering through the world. Please be safe, as hard as it is to imagine, homes, cars, material possessions, are all things that can be replaced in time, you are a very unique, and amazing individual there is no replacing you. Know there are people all over who are pulling for you in this time. Stay safe, stay hopeful, and stay amazing..

Claim resets when a castle is taken. If two players siege one castle first one to 100 gets it the other starts over, as it should because, it's under new management. Good idea that does work Emp, but it's still starting over.

Refines are good how they are.When you fight there are always losses on both sides. The game is based on empire management, and strategy above all else. Fighting causes co st on both sides, defending is always more work than attacking. One always pays better than the other, it generally evens out over a server. What Emp points out holds true, he who raids the best, grows the best. Fighting is more about slowing down your opponent over time while you grow, and build those temples. I have long said, every infantry troop should carry a minimum of 10, and triari should carry no more than 15. Horses units should carry minimum of 20, for the simple reason they count as two troops. That small change alone would rearrange so much of the structure of how players build.
It should, once players realize the advantages increase fighting because of a more diverse troop structure. Sorc become more profitable not just for their fighting power but for raiding, when a cont is safe, or fighting is at a lull. After a three or four servers helping new players, as well as returning players, the majority who left didn't care about bugs, glitches, getting their butt kicked fighting, it was that they had to build 75 to 80 percent of the exact same castle to grow as fast as the game requires. That's not strategy it's cookie cutter, it has a tendency to sprout boredom in mass.
The changes on w13 are long overdue, fog of war should definitely add some spice, is it enough though? The battle mechanic in my opinion, with the exception of report lag at times, is the most flawless aspect of the game. The math on it works, we do not need to change that aspect in my opinion.

I do not get to talk to many people in the real world since they have germs, and well, I have come to believe Family is what you choose to make it be. So I choose you...

Exactly what Dhruv said. Go on any gaming board, page, group you can find. 90% of the players there play mobile game the majority of the time. There was a Mobile app for the old game, sure it was very limited, but it was there. You could at least set attacks, pull defense, reset raids. A mobile app for the game would not really need to be a full version of the game, just the basics. The hard truth is the game itself is not friendly to new players. The player base, the game, the learning curve it is all very daunting for any new player to learn. Not really even sure if a mobile app would increase all of that, market research is all that would lead to that answer. Though I am assuming, (I know the saying), that Gaming addict studios has invested in some large market research and looked at that through the lens of the future of this game. I would imagine, as much as we players think about this on a daily basis, Gordy, and his team do so all the more. For us this is a habit, a game, a way to connect with each other, even a great strategy game, but for them, its a business, one with a very large wall of competition they must contend with. In the end, we as players can make suggestions, point to what we feel are short comings, and inadequacies in the game, however, it is up to Gaming addict studios what they implement, develop, and put in to place as the future of the game.
More leaders, more training, more diffusion of the player base as it stands now would all help the game, but that is on the player side of things, the real advances, and changes that make the game feasible for longevity are all going to need done on the Dev side. It is as always my hope that the two sides work together as a team, for the good of the future of COTG. I have long said that without extensive testing, such as actual test servers that run the length of the game before any changes are implemented to the larger base are needed to avoid the mind numbing number of bugs that pop up because of rushing. Yes I know we are in beta, and it is about testing, but truthfully, cotg as it stands is run as a business out of beta. Players Pay to play, we test the game in real time, that isn't beta, that is consumer testing. May 24th 2015, if I recall correctly, we hit beta, that was 3 years, 2 months and 20 days ago. There have been vast amounts of improvement in COTG, the game itself compared to those early days is so much improved. Yes there have been setbacks, there have been bugs, glitches, and the like. I believe servers like the tournament server would be a very viable monetary option for the future, fast, short servers, that last no more than 90 days would be a boon to creating a hopeful player base, however that is just my opinion. The long servers, continent order never changing, shrines lighting up before a cont opens, carry capacity being what it is (the variance from Sorcerers, to Triari alone both infantry, one only good for fighting, the other built generally strictly to raid is one example)  and the types of troops we have limit strategy, to the point that nearly every server is a repeat of the last server. Land on c22, two alliances fight for it, one gets subdued and limited while the other becomes a powerhouse to grab up the next few that open nearby, the second place alliance usually waits on 23 to open, in some cases yes they do emerge from c22 if they plan ahead far enough early on. 3rd and fourth, or 2nd and 3rd join up to form an alliance, with a sister, its just a wash rinse repeat cycle. That as much as anything contributes to the player base leaving.
People howl for change, yet when it is given they stay away for the most part for what ever reason. Something does need done, from what I see there is a very large disagreement about what that is. For a very long while now I have stayed away from the main alliances, I tend to flock to an alliance that needs help, or where there are players who need to learn the basics. I have saw many players doing just that last few servers, and it has helped, but not on the scale that needs to change the game. I am encouraged that there is a great deal of training taking place now, yes there still need to be more leaders step up. In the end though people pay to play, they are not going to pay to not get first or a hard fought second, very often, in large numbers anyway. Oh I know that is a can of worms there, (players need to be in the first place alliance to learn to play, that there is how i did it,that is how my uncle did it, and his uncle before him and that there is how we are going to always do it dag nabbit!), but there will always be a need for alliances that teach the basics,raiding, building, strategy, cont moves, defense, early fighting, all of that well before players are ready for a slot as contributor to a main alliance, because the truth is, 3/4 of all those new players quit, leave, get bored, or beat to death and can not keep up with even a 3rd or 4th place alliance. Ed points it out all the time, COTG is not new player friendly, that is how it is.
These are my thoughts, I have plenty of time to think of them as I lay here in my bed, I have been around since the very, very early days of the old game, and I have never saw it as it is now. Player relations, morale, and confidence are very low, something must be done to change that. The truth is, there is only one thing that I feel will change that, player relations, and confidence, need to be shored up by Gaming addict studios. The server crash, the certificate issue, large scale attack bugs, temple issues, seem to of late be very disheartening to players. Let us all hope that there is a way to change this as a group, or that at the very least some one up the food chain is already thinking of a way to do this.
